Zonum’s beginnings in the mid-80s were as a radio sound technician, radio announcer, resident DJ in theaters until 1990, In the 90s he began his career as a music producer, collaborating in productions with artists, at the national level, founder and member of several groups of electronic music, combining it with live performances. In 2005 Zonum created with his colleague and friend Xavi V, the current production studio of Balian Records, combining with the promotion of events and parties, and projects such as Guru Sound Projects, collaborating in compilations, such as Flamenco House, with Raul Orellana.
Joan Munoz founded Balian Records and adopted his new pseudonym Zonum, since then, his collaborations have been regular, with artists and labels of the likes of S&S Records Inc., Steve “Silk” Hurley, Shannon “DJ Skip” Syas, Dj Chus, Stereo. Nervous, Oscar P, Open Bar Music, Davidson Ospina, Ospina Digital, Maurice Joshua Digital, and many many more.
Zonum is currently part of a new project with Albert Retamero and Xavi V, as The Groovers Boys.
Q&A with S&S S&S: What’s your style of music? How do you describe it? House,Soulful,Tech,etc..Music Lover
S&S: Who or what was most instrumental to you when it came to music? Mike Oldfield, Satriani, Vangelis, there are many.
S&S: What drives you creatively? Always my state of mind
S&S: How much does your audience influence you and your music selection? Try to always improve
S&S: What artists or genres do you listen to when you’re not working? I like Latin music, Alejandro Sanz, Luis Miguel, Hip Hop, It always depends on my mood.
S&S: Do you have any favorite memories of growing up with your family? Family trips by car, singing the song of the moment, lol
S&S: Is there anything you would like people to know about you? Not especially, I’m a born worker.
S&S: Are there any charities you are working with or excited to tell us about? No, personally, my wife takes care of it.
S&S: Are there any questions that you wish people would ask you? I am always open to listen and respond, I have no problem.
S&S: And on the flip side of that, are there any questions or references you wish people would stop asking or using? No, as long as it’s not disrespectful, lol
S&S: What artist(s) have you been the most excited to work with? Steve Silk Hurley, Shannon “DJ Skip” Syas, Benji Candelario, etc. any musical challenge, it is always exciting.
S&S: Are there any artists that you dream of working with on a collaboration? Currently, there are many, but the old school is very enriching.
S&S: What can we look forward to next from you? That depends on the opinion of others, for my part work and more work.
S&S: What legacy would you like to leave? Live the day to day, with my family and my work.
