Q&A with S&S

S&S: What’s your style of music? How do you describe it?
Josh Stone Sr/ It’s all house music to me!
Josh Stone Jr./ People like to say we are “jackin” house but I like to think we create all styles of house music!

S&S: Who or what was most instrumental to you when it came to music?
Josh Stone Sr./ Just music in general!
Josh Stone Jr./ I was musically abused by my father growing up haha he always showed me a lot of great music but skateboarding played a part and band in school learning to play the trumpet

S&S: What drives you creatively?
Josh Stone Sr./I have so many ideas!? And just trying to get better in life, art, and music!
Josh Stone Jr./ Waking up every day knowing that I can make a new track

S&S: How much does your audience influence you and your music selection?
Josh Stone Sr./ Never thought how they influence me…. because I usually just do what I want!
Josh Stone Jr./ I think our music influences our audience, we select the music for you to be influenced and you decide

S&S: What artists or genres do you listen to when you’re not working?
Josh Stone Sr./ Geowulf/Boy Pablo/ Two door Cinema Club/ Cut Copy/The Temper Trap…..just to name a few!
Josh Stone Jr./ I listen to a lot of different stuff when I’m not working from hip hop and rap to indie music and ambient I like everything I don’t discriminate some artist I been Jammin recently a lot are Freddie Gibbs/Westside Gunn/ Buddy/ Malz Monday/ Gorillaz/ Khruangbin / No Vacation/

S&S: Do you have any favorite memories of growing up with your family?
Josh Stone Sr./There’s a few but mostly skateboarding for me!
Josh Stone Jr./ I have this one memory of laying in the back of my dad’s van as a kid and he was playing boys don’t cry by the cure and I remember crying because the song was so beautiful and badass. One of my favorite memories is my dad taking me to the park as a kid and pushing me on the swings as high as I could go. There was this one park that had really old swings they were super high compared to newer swing sets you would find at a park and there was this tree branch I would try to tap every time he took me.

S&S: Is there anything you would like people to know about you?
Josh Stone Sr./ Nope! I try to keep private!
Josh Stone Jr./ I love music

S&S: Are there any charities you are working with or excited to tell us about?
Josh Stone Sr./ U can send all funds directly to me! Haha!
Josh Stone Jr./ Not currently, possibly in the future

S&S: Are there any questions that you wish people would ask you?
Josh Stone Sr./Nah

Josh Stone Sr./ Nope!

S&S: What artist(s) have you been the most excited to work with?
Josh Stone Sr./ Steve “Silk” Hurly and DJ Skip!
Josh Stone Jr./ So excited to be able to work with Steve “Silk” Hurly and DJ Skip!

S&S: Are there any artists that you dream of working with on a collaboration?
Josh Stone Sr./ Nah….My son is the best partner in the world!
Josh Stone Jr./ I think we got a good thing going over here! My dad and I collaborate the best. I think it would be badass if we did a collaboration with Detroit Swindle though that would be sick!!

S&S What advice would you give to an aspiring artist?
Josh Stone Sr./ Just keep pushing…. Never give up! And don’t be afraid of failure!
Josh Stone Jr./ Listen. Listen to everything. Keep working, learn your craft practice makes perfect, and still, you will continue to learn new things everyday you never stop learning with music it’s a beautiful thing.

Josh Stone Sr./ We(The Stoned) have tons of music coming soon! And hope to keep it going!
