Steve “Silk” Hurley of S&S Chicago team up with the City of Chicago to help support the arts

There is not one facet of the arts that does not touch and change the quality of our daily lives, now more than ever as we “#stayhome and #savelives” to crush the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Whether we’re listening to music and dancing it out or meditating, reading a book and getting lost in an adventure or exploring new interests, or watching a television show or movie and getting swept up in the drama or comedy, the role of artists in helping to fill our hours and days is unmeasurable. But as much as we always depend on the work of the artists to fill in the gaps of our life, they are the most forgotten of those suffering in this economic shutdown. So when S&S Chicago was asked to help kick off Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s, initiative to call attention to and address the needs of the artisan community, “Arts for Illinois Instagram Live Concert,” we were honored! Talk about a party with a purpose!

It was great to see so many of the House Music family join House Music pioneer, 4-time GRAMMY® nominee, and legend, Steve “Silk” Hurley of S&S Records Inc.(Chicago), from around the world in support of our performance and creative arts family in such an innovative way that not only entertained but helped slow the spread. It was a musical trip down House Music memory lane that we are sure left many wet and breathless and will be talked about for years to come!! Thank you, Mayor Lightfoot, for allowing us to ROCK THE HOUSE in this concert series!!!
