This week, @stevesilkhurley of S&S Records Inc. (@snschi)is featured on the @glitterboxibiza Radio show in the UK with @melvobaptiste. This pioneering house music producer, songwriter, and four-time GRAMMY® nominee takes you on a journey into some of his most classic original productions and remixes. Below you will find some of the featured records, most of which are set to be re-released this year on S&S Records Inc.

Silk also gives a peek behind the scenes of his label ID Records, which became known to many as a “Mini-Motown.” ID (It’s Dance) was the early home of many established writers and recording artists including Jamie Principle, Sharon Pass, Chantay Savage, Shay Jones, Donell Rush, M. Doc, JereMcAlister, Tommye, and Kym Sims, to name a few. Members of the ID crew also wrote for and recorded Platinum and Gold artists such as CeCe Peniston, Ann Nesby, Chaka Khan, Tene Williams, D’Borah, and Tanya Blount.

Melvo talks to Silk about the untold stories behind the ID Camp which created and remixed #1 Dance hits for the likes of Michael Jackson, Prince, Black Box, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Jomanda, and TenCity.

Silk formed a renowned remixing trio (ID Productions) with the now GRAMMY® winning #Remixer Maurice Joshua and GRAMMY® Nominee Eric “E-Smoove” Miller. They kept the world dancing to music that wasn’t even “Dance.” ID was known for creating #1 Dance hits for artists like Roberta Flack, Lionel Richie, The Pointer Sisters, and even Liza Minelli.

ID Records’ production deal with Polygram yielded albums for M. Doc and #JamiePrinciple. Kym Sims had a string of hits through a partnership with ID and #Atlantic, and when ID inked a distribution deal with RCA Records (and Sony UK), Chantay Savage became their first artist released under the ID/RCA imprint. Chantay’s collaborations with Hurley included the hits, “Betch’all Never Find” and “I Will Survive,” 2 tunes that not only reached top positions on Billboard’s Dance Charts but the R&B Charts as well.

In this unprecedented exclusive interview, Malvo and Silk chop it up and listen to a few of these tunes, which are truly a piece of music history. Go to @stevesilkhurley & click blog to listen to full interview
